'Taylor Swift is every drunk white girl's dream', Esther Krakue challenges singer's Person of the Year victory with Piers Morgan

TalkTV's Esther Krakue has told Piers Morgan that whilst singer Taylor Swift 'deserves her success' she would have 'personally gone with someone else' for TIME's Person of the Year.

Piers Morgan has debated TalkTV contributors James Barr and Esther Krakue on Taylor Swift's TIME Person of the Year 2023 victory.

The announcement of Taylor Swift's win came only a week after Spotify named her as the most-played artist on the streaming platform for 2023.

Esther admitted that she wasn't a fan of the 33-year-old and argued that the Person of the Year win is indicative of the current direction of society.

She said: "I'm not a Taylor Swift Fan just because I feel like if she was a man, she wouldn't get away with singing about her exes in the way that she does.

"She does deserve her success. She is now officially a billionaire. Her tour has raked in so much money.

"I do think it says something about society though that this is the Person of the Year. I would personally go with someone else."

Esther then attempted to explain the success of Taylor Swift as she sees it.

She explained: "Taylor Swift's brand is genius because she's very relatable. She is literally every drunk white girl's dream.

"She has terrible relationships. She's not perfect. She's hasn't had great relationships. She's not had a lot of surgery done. She just a very relatable girl."

Piers heaped praise on Taylor Swift and argued she is worthy of her win.

He said: "She's a brilliant singer/songwriter. For me, one of the best. She's been a fantastic role model.

"If you had a young daughter, you would love her to be a swifty because she represents all of that's wholesome and good about the world.

"There's a legitimate argument that she's the biggest pop star there's ever been."

Other figures to have been named Time Magazine’s person of the year include the late Queen, climate activist Greta Thunberg, US President Joe Biden and Pope Francis.

This year, Swift embarked on her The Eras Tour and performed shows across North and South America alongside a slew of special guests including American singer Phoebe Bridgers and rock band Paramore.

She also released her concert movie, which was recorded during the US leg of The Eras Tour and features songs spanning her entire career.
