Matt Walsh tells Piers Morgan the push for diversity and inclusion in public institutions is an attempt to make them 'less white'

Filmmaker Matt Walsh has claimed the push for diversity and inclusion in public institutions is an attempt to make them "less white".

Speaking to TalkTV's Piers Morgan, the political commentator said: "Diversify, diversity, inclusion; all these phrases are coded language. What they really mean is we have to make these things less white.

"That's why you'll hear people refer to diverse groups, and diverse people. We need a more diverse person in this role, they'll say. How can a person be individually diverse? What they're really saying is, we want a non-white person."

It comes after Jerod Mayo replaced Bill Belichick to become the first black coach in the history of the New England Patriots American football team.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he was "colour blind" when picking his head coach: "He happens to be a man of colour, but I chose him because I believe he's best to do the job."

But at a press conference later, Mayo said: "I do see colour. If you don’t see colour, you can’t see racism."

Matt told Piers: "If we're getting to the point where we can find anti-black racism in American football then the concept means nothing. Some 75% of players in the National Football League (NFL) are black.

"If you take all the different positions on the field, and on the side lines, black people are vastly over represented when you compare they are 13% of the US population.

"If a lack of black NFL head coaches is down to racism, how do you explain a lack of white defensive backs on the field? Are they being targeted for racism?"

America's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently announced it was recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion initiative.

A statement on the FAA website said: “Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring.

“They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism.”

Matt told Piers the "ridiculous" plan risked lowering standards in the aviation industry."No-one is claiming they will hire someone blind or paralysed to actually fly, a Delta aircraft. Maybe we will get to that point. Fans of these diversification efforts claim it will lower standards. But obviously ends up happening.

"If the standards were set at a certain place, and you ended up with a certain number of white pilots, then you say: we don't want that many white pilots, you have to lower the standards.

"We are obsessed with representation of groups according to their percentage of the overall population. That's an unworkable, untenable, unsustainable goal that makes no sense."
