Ukraine's first lady Olena Zelenska has spoken to Piers Morgan in an exclusive interview to talk about how the war in Ukraine has affected her life and country.

The wife of President Volodymr Zelensky expressed her gratitude towards Britain and the Royal Family for their support in helping Ukraine resist Russian invasion.

She also delivered messages to Vladimir Putin and to the American politicians whose decisions will affect so many Ukrainian lives

Describing the situation inside Ukraine, Ms Zelenska said she struggled to "switch off her emotions" when hearing about the daily struggles on her countrymen.

She said: “It is a tragedy to live in the situation that we find ourselves, to see casualties every day.

"You cannot switch off your emotions. These things don’t allow you to be happy or calm, ever. There's no opportunity for that. And there are some things that just finish you off.

"All of the emotions that we accumulate every day. You need to cry.

“My job is to keep smiling, to keep talking to people, to inspire people. Regardless of whether or not I have the energy for that, so I try to keep my emotions inside.”
