14-year-old boy arrested after one person killed in Bangkok mall shooting

One person has been killed and a 14-year-old boy is in police custody after a deadly shooting at a busy luxury mall in Thailand's capitol.

Footage shows officers pouncing on the alleged shooter who is just 14-years-old according to Police.

Crowds can be seen fleeing the shopping mall as other's hid inside after gunshots rang out around 4:20pm local time inside the Siam Paragon Mall - a luxury complex in Bangkok.

Emergency services said five other people were critically injured in the afternoon shooting, including a foreign national, according to Reuters news agency.

Photos show the teenager pinned to the floor and being handcuffed and an officer picking up a gun.

The teenager was cornered at nearby Siam Kempinski Hotel at around 5.10pm local time and surrendered without a struggle, Bangkok Post reported.

The central investigation bureau earlier shared a grainy image of him wearing a cap and khaki cargo trousers.

The nearby Siam train station was also shut and the Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin posted to X:

"I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of those who died in the shooting incident in the area of ​​Siam Paragon Mall."

The gunman's motives remain unclear.
