Melanie Phillips has claimed that a minority of Britain's Muslim community that do not subscribe to British and western values have been allowed to "run rampant".

Speaking to TalkTV's Jeremy Kyle and Nicola Thorp, the journalist and commentator said "hoodlums are taking over the streets" after some 300,000 pro-Palestinian protesters marched in London on Armistice Day.

Police say they are investigating serious offences relating to antisemitism and hate crimes.

Ms Phillips said: "There is a body of people in Britain, in the Muslim community, who don't subscribe to British and western values, They are a minority of the community, but they have been allowed to run rampant over the years.

"What we've seen is unprecedented scenes of not just disorder, but of incitement to violence and hatred of the Jewish community in particular. These are basically hoodlums, who are taking over the streets.
