Police have released video of the moment a Utah police officer was forced to ram into a car that was driving on the wrong side of the road.

Officer Kalawai Delos Santos was commended by his superiors at the Kaysville Police Department after using his vehicle to intercept the dangerous Tesla driver.

The unnamed male driver was not injured in the crash “but was promptly apprehended on suspicion of driving under the influence,” police said.

The incident occurred on February 27 on Interstate 15, north of Salt Lake city.

Police said Officer Santos required extraction by medical personnel after the crash and was taken to hospital with "moderate to serious injuries.”

He was later discharged from hospital and spent two weeks recovering at home.

The Kaysville Police said it was the second time Officer Delos Santos had successfully intercepted a wrong-way driver, the first incident having occurred in April of 2022.
